Lately on Stardoll : Miss Stardoll World '14, Callie's Picks and Mawi London

This was definitely not the most exciting Stardoll week. We got a few releases, but nothing seemed impressive or worth writing a post for it.

The week started with the release of this year's Miss Stardoll World store. Usually there are some great choices this store has to offer, but this wasn't the case now. The whole collection reminded me of the Versus tribute we got a few months back, unispired and dull. The only thing I bought were the "Velvet Laces Boots".
On Wednesday as usual the new issue of Callie's Picks was released. The 24th issue was all about "Grunge Glam". I have to admit that this whole grunge thing is starting to get a bit tiring. There are many more interesting styles that grunge and girly, Stardoll! However, there were a few pieces that are worth buying. My faves were two things I already own, the "Silver Sweater Dress" and the "Checkered Red Shirt", which I both styled in the "How to Style: The Oversized Sweater" post from last week. My other two picks were the "Bleached Ruffle Jeans Skirt" and the "Nails Necklace". The skirt was a piece that I stumbled upon quite frequently while searching the bazaar, but I never got around buying it. I'll probably never wear it as a skirt, it's just too short, but I love the ruffled finish. I'm not quite sure how I can possibly style the necklace but it is an iteresting piece I wouldn't miss.
As for the last release of the week, the Mawi jewelery collection, I just can't get paste the amazing display and the presentation of the store. It's so much different than what we usually see on Stardoll. Very modern and editorial like. I might buy a pair of earrings in the future, but as of now there is nothing I can't live without.

Capsule Wardrobe #2 : Futuristic Samurai

Do you remember the Five Pieces Project ?  I changed the name of it to "Capsule Wardrobe". The rules are still the same, five different outfits with five items, just under a different tittle. I have to admit that this time the collection of the clothes is rather odd and I noticed that just now, while writing the post. There is a fairy skirt, a pair of leather pants and a puffy sleeved top. However after many different combinations I tried, this ended up beeing the best possible. I started with the "Futuristic Samurai" theme in mind, but then somehow lost it in the way, with the last outfit beeing completely off topic and my least favourite of the bunch... Strike a Pose New Collection

The second collection of Strike a Pose was released earlier today, and it was an instant hit! I wasn't home when it got released but from what I read in other blogs it seems that it sold out in the first hour. That was fast, especially if you think that LE hasn't sold out yet, weeks after it's release! The users clearly showed their preferences :) 

I was home when the spoilers got released so I knew immediately that I had to get the two oversized coats. Unfortunately I had to leave before the official release (I forced my sister to check regularly for the release and buy me these two coats so I wouldn't miss them) so I didn't have the change to try on the other pieces. After seeing them now, my only regret is not buying the "Sequin Trousers W Blazer" as well, but now it's too late.

I love the whole presentation of the store. They have kept the same aesthetic with the previous collection, clean lines, basic colors and a mix of casual and streetstyle items. One more thing I like about this store is that the basic pieces are limited but still reasonably priced.

My two purchases, the "Charcoal Streetstyle Overcoat" and the "Tan Streetstyle Overcoat" even though they don't change the pose of the doll, are two excellent pieces. From the rolled up sleeves to the masculine style, everything is right on trend. Plus an oversized, thrown over shoulders coat can come in quite handy on Stardoll, especially if you use the resize glitch and you want to hide some awkards parts.

How to Style : The Oversized Sweater

Autumn is right around the corner, for the northern hemisphere at least. It's my favourite time of the year, since you can still go out with bare legs but you can also layer a sweater over your top. There is this feeling when you are wearing an oversized sweater, it makes you feel cozy and comfy, which no other piece of clothing can beat. It's the perfect solution when you are bored to get dressed or not in the mood for fancy clothing. You can style it up or down with the right accessories and create a day to night look.
For the Stardoll styling I went with two casual looks and a more fancy one. As you can see the accessorizing is very simple, since the sweaters alone are kind of statement pieces, so I didn't want to end up with oveloaded outfits.
P.S.Stardoll, please NEVER fix the resize glitch :P
