Subcouture New Collection |||

I'm wearing : Pink Primavera Gown, Royalty | Death Metal Jacket, Subcouture | Pink Strappy MSW Heels, MSW | Left and Right Shoulder Pad, Archive | Licorice Tassle Clutch, Subcouture | Lumiere Clutch, Royalty * | Right Gold Cuff, Subcouture | Solid Gold Bracelet, Riviera | Wig designed by dissolvedgirl

Yesterday a new collection of Subcouture was released. Like the previous collections it will only be available for 48 hours so you have to be quick and pick your favourites before it's gone!
I was quite impressed with the previous collection so my hopes were high for this one, especially after seeing the instagram spoiler with the spiked jacket. I must admit I was fairly dissapointed. At first glance it looks to me more like a Limited Edition collection mainly because of all these colors and the length of the dresses. It looks to "tacky" for an haute couture collection... The "Death Metal Jacket" beeing the highlight of the store and a superstar exclusive piece, was the only piece of clothing I bought. I like the combination of silver and gold the straps that are designed so you can see just a bit of skin underneath. The "Right Gold Cuff" is a lovely minimal geometric jewelry and the only con is that is a beauty parlor item. The same goes for the "Camo Veil Headpiece". You know my love for headpieces, so of course I wouldn't miss that one! It's unique and just a bit wierd, the things I look for in headpieces, but the fact that it's a beauty parlor item makes me almost certain I won't use it a lot. The "Sorbet Tassle Earrings" are cute and even though they are colorful amd maybe a little over the top, they can wirk great with a monochrome outfit. Lastly, the "Lace Up High Boots" are one of those statement shoes that can make any outfit much more interesting.

Royalty New Collection : Elie Saab

I've started writing this post almost a week ago and I haven't found time till now to finish it. I barely had time to log in to stardoll and check USD just to see the new releases.  It's such a relief to finaly have some free time to invest on my blog! Stay tuned for more posts today and tommorow :)
Last Friday a new collection of Royalty was released. Let's talk about perfection! Remember me saying that I'm not into gowns? Well, I'm into those Elie Saab gowns which are pure awesomeness. For the first time in years I'm actually excited I'm royalty :) Stardoll really hit the spot with this release. Many members were requesting an Elie Saab collection and making it royalty-exclusive was a very smart move on Stardoll's part! If I wasn't already royalty I would definitely consider beeing one just to get my hands on some of these beauties!
I really don't know where to start this review from because the beauty in this store is overwhelming. I'll probably buy most of the collection at some point, but in this post I'll show you my most favourite pieces. Let me start by writing that the prices are great. This could have easily be a Young Hollywood or a tribute collection with prices from 60sd and over. The most expensive item now costs 28 stardollars which is not much more than what we pay for regular releases.
The showpiece of the collection is of course the "Lumiere Gown". I know I'll probably never wear it but I can't resist buying it. The sparkles are beautiful and with the Underneath Store now the cleavage is not a problem.
The accessories were my second favourite part of the store, with the "Diva Black Heels" beeing the first on my list. You can never go wrong with a pair of black heels. The "Runway Shoulder Bag" is beautifully made. The color combination, the shadowing and the way it sits on the medoll, a little higher than most shoulder bags, make it a must have piece! The "Black Soiree Jacket" looks realistic and the "Black Satin Corset Dress" even though it's a simple black dress has great texture and shadowing. Finally the "Haute Couture Black Lace Top" is a very delicate piece with great detailing and the "Pink Primavera Gown" it's an ethereal and airy piece. Overall I like most of the store but I knew that many of them wouldn't fit in my wardrobe so I limited myself to these pieces.

Callie's Picks Issue No. 21 : Designer Galore

On Wednesday the 21st Callie's Picks issue was released and the theme was "Designer Galore". A collection of designer pieces from the archive of Stardoll. I love the whole aesthetic of the issue. The mannequins are not overloaded with clothes and accessories and the arrangement brings out a feeling of luxury. It's true that some of the dresses are highly priced, but that's what the whole issue is all about. Designer pieces are a luxury you have to pay a little more to acquire and that is something that applies both in real life and Stardoll!
My favourite piece is the "Blouse Inspired by Stella McCartney". It's a stunning piece, one of the few in Stardoll that is as good as the real life version (if not better). It was an item I coveted for a long time and when I found it a few months ago (I bought two of them for some reason :P) I was super happy. I've been trying all these months to style it properly but still haven't found how. It's a statement piece and that makes it impossible for me to include in an outfit no matter how much I like it! I found an old post from PaperdollHeaven Lookbook, that featured --Kayley wearing it and looking absolutely fierce! Click here to read it.
My other pick is the little "Black Gucci Handbag". It's cute, minimal and it can work with many different styles.
Overall, nice presentation but not that great individual pieces.

The Five Pieces Project #1

The idea of a new column was on my mind for some time now and yesterday I finally decided what it would be. So let me tell you a few words about the "Five Pieces Project". For every post I'll set myself the challenge of creating five different outfits using only five pieces of clothing. Shoes and
accessories are not included, so I can go crazy with them :P As you can probably tell by now I usually overload my outfits, so I thought that this project will be a good way to see what I can do with much less clothes and will help me focus more on accessorizing. For this very first post, my five choices are : Frappe Tee, Linen Boater Top and Blue Wrap Around Skirt from It Girls, Black Cigarette Pants from Windows on the World and Bright Coat from Archive.
Having said all that, I must admit that I found it very difficult, to the point where I wanted to drop the idea. I spend a few good hours last night trying to figure out what to do and I was dissapointed many times during theses hours, but at the end I liked stepping out of my comfort zone for once and challenging myself! Ok, I should better stop
writing now, let's move on to the outfits! I know I kind of cheated with the rotated shirt, but I'll just play dumb and act like this never happened :P

Question : In the future would it be better to post the five looks in different posts or all together like I did now? I think it's kind of confusing writing down all the items I used for all five of them, but on the other hand I find it more appealing having them all in one picture.  I need your feedback as readers. What do you think? What to you find easier to read?

How to Style : Long Coat

We are in the middle of summer (at least in the northern hemisphere), the temperature here is almost 40 degrees and it's that time of the year when I start dreaming of cold weather, coats, sweaters and many layers! I just want this torture called summer to end :/ This situation made me remember the request sindiralle has made some days ago for a long coat "How to Style it" post. So here we are :)
The thing with coats and jackets is that you can't wear them in many different ways since they cover up a large part of your outfit (if not entirely). So accessorizing is important!
